Diode Pumped Solid State LaserTesting

SensorPhysics LaserTest beam profiler is already used for far field measurements of diode pumped solid state lasers to be sure they are running in lowest order modes and to measure the output beam M2 value. With the LaserWave spectrometer you can also verify the amount of residual pump (typically 808 nm) and fundamental (typically 1064nm) light emitted along with the desired green, second harmonic light.

Although optical coatings are typically employed to block 808 and 1064 nm light, verification of the residual amount of these wavelengths can be important for FDA CDRH safety registration as well as applications sensitive to longer wavelengths. In addition the spectrum can be used to monitor the relative amounts of second harmonic, fundamental and pump light to optimize the overall laser efficiency.

In fact the spatial distribution of pump, fundamental and second harmonic light can vary considerably in the output beam - a property that can be measured by scanning the LaserWave sampling fiber through the beam. The same technique can be used to optimize frequency tripled and quadrupled laser designs as well as second harmonic generation of blue light. Even lowly LEDs (and laser diodes) can be monitored for the amount of infrared light generated as compared to the desired visible output.
